LRMHC COUNSELING
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Thank you for your interest in LRMHC’s Counseling Internship program! Our mission is to provide integrated mental and physical health care for community members experiencing mental illness, and to facilitate wellness and understanding across the Lakes Region.

LRMHC recognizes the need for trained professionals in our growing field as we see demand for services increase in our communities. We are excited to partner with area colleges and universities to offer internship programs for students pursuing their Master’s in human services.

See below for more information

Clinical Programs

LRMHC supports students’ educational and professional growth and development by providing internship placement opportunities in the following clinical programs:

CHILD & FAMILY SERVICESADULT SERVICESSUBSTANCE USE DISORDER SERVICES

Clinical experiences in each program include individual and group therapy treatment (based on group availability and fit).

Due to COVID-19, intern clinical hours will be completed through a combination of direct (face-to-face) and virtual (telehealth) contact. Specific accommodations will be made on an individual basis following acceptance to the internship program.

Supervision

Interns will receive weekly, direct supervision from a full-time Master’s level employee in their assigned clinical program. Dependent on the specifications of the program, the assigned supervisor may be licensed in mental health counseling or social work. Supervision will include administrative and clinical support.

Interns are asked to attend bi-monthly cohort meetings. These meetings are supervised by the Manager of Educational Services to bridge internship experiences, formal classroom education, and personal/professional development, and include: team building activities, reflections regarding “use of self” in clinical work, and didactic training on special clinical topics.
