Dr. Jelnov received his medical degree from Novosibirsk State University in Novosibirsk, Russia. He completed his postdoctoral clinical training at psychiatric institutes in St. Petersburg and Moscow, and completed his residency in psychiatry at Elmhurst Medical Center, Mt. Sinai Medical School in Elmhurst, New York. Dr. Jelnov has extensive clinical experience, as well as expertise in supervision, training and program coordination. He has served as the Attending Psychiatrist in the psychiatric emergency room at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Prior to joining Lakes Region Mental Health Center as Medical Director in 2010, he was the Attending Psychiatrist at the inpatient unit of Jersey City Medical Center in New Jersey. Dr. Jelnov is Board certified in psychiatry and neurology. “On a personal level, the Lakes Region is a beautiful place and my family and I enjoy the many recreational opportunities in the area,” says Dr. Jelnov. “On a professional level, I want to focus on the word community in community mental health. In this system, the patient is an integral part of their treatment. They have more choices. Our work allows us to remove the labels associated with mental illness and help our patients truly be a part of the community they live in.”
